Mask of San Isidro (Mascara de San Isidro)

This is the first work in my new studio in the district of San Isidro, Habana Vieja. It has some facial features common to many women living in this traditional and very popular area. It's a festive mask while with some serious drama. It is the visual record, to the artist, of anthropological aspects of a mixture that is active around his atelier.

Este es la primera obra realizada en el nuevo taller de Lopez Oliva en Paula y Habana, en el Barrio de San Isidro, Habana Vieja. Posee algunos rasgos faciales comunes a muchas mujeres que habitan en esa barrida tradicional y my popular. Es una mascara festiva y a la vez con cierta gravedad dramática. Constituye el registro visual, en el artista, de aspectos antropológicos de un mestizaje que permanece activo alrededor de su atelier.
